Can you put a three way light bulb in a regular desk lamp?
I bought a three way light bulb at Walmart since it was very cheap and I want to put it in a regular desk lamp. The light bulb's lowest setting is 30 Watts, which is the setting I want it on. My desk lamp is a one setting lamp. Can I put my light bulb in my lamp, and if so, which level would show up if I did this?
Seems a little confusion here, if you put a 3-way lamp in a regular socket you will get the medium wattage light level (which is the higher wattage element used alone).
A 3-way lamp is really a two element lamp, the screw shell is the neutral, low is the outer ring around the center point on the base, the center point is the high wattage element (medium light level) and the high setting uses both elements at the same time.
