Used SUVs - The Top 5 Models

Compact SUVs are the most popular cars seen on both roads and highways today. Although they have less powerful engines and lesser carrying capacity as compared to their full-size counterparts, they are extremely fuel-efficient, offering about 28 miles per gallon. Also, a range of SUVs can be picked up at used car sales, making them very affordable.

Compact SUVs carry five passengers and their rear seats can be folded down or removed to make space for cargo. Crossover versions offer more room, easy handling and a smoother ride. Being lighter and simpler, incurring low maintenance and repair costs, used SUVs demand lower insurance premiums. Also, they are reputable for being safe cars, with airbags and stability control. All these features make used SUVs perfect for families.

If you are looking for used SUVs at affordable prices without compromising on performance, look no further. We have listed the five best models of used SUVs available in the market today.

Hyundai Tucson:
The first-generation Hyundai Tuscon, manufactured in 2005, is a compact, five-passenger SUV. Its roomy interior as well as standard comfort and safety features put it at the numero uno spot among used SUVs. What's more, it offers 65 cubic feet of cargo space when the split rear seat is folded flat. This makes the car perfect for a family on a trip.

Ford Escape:
The 2004-2005 model is solid, spacious and pleasant to drive. The base engine offers 153 hp, 2.3 liter and four cylinders. Curtain side airbags offer additional safety. Besides, opting for Ford Escape as your used SUV will translate into you driving a car that exudes both style and comfort.

Mitsubishi Outlander:
The 2004 version is based on the Lancer subcompact car platform and offers 160 hp, 2.4 liter inline and a four cylinder engine. It is available in front-wheel as well as all-wheel drive. Besides, among used SUVs, it provides superior comfort and spaciousness.

Hyundia Santa Fe:
Hyundai seems to be dominating the top five list of used SUVs! The mid-sized Santa Fe is ideal for families as it seamlessly blends space, comfort, performance and safety features, all at an affordable price.

Subaru Forester:
Finally, the second-generation Forester, manufactured in 2003, features a 165-hp 2.5-liter flat 4-engine. Although it is not recommended for off-road driving, it is an excellent choice among used SUVs for on-road, in-city driving.

The above list is perfect for families, but if you are the owner of a small business, it is recommended that you opt for a used pickup truck instead. This is because a used pickup truck will provide you better all-terrain performance and also allow you to carry a basic cargo load across distances.

Both SUVs and pickup trucks can be purchased at used cars sales. Not only are these models available at competitive prices in the market but also in used cars sales and limited period offers across the Internet.

Good 4cyl SUV or pickup?

I am tired of my butt nearly touching the pavement, I would like a good reliable small size SUV or pickup, good for a family of 3.

Depends on your budget. New or used. I found a really nice 03 chevy s10 ext cab 6cyl for myself. Or a s10 blazer they are pretty reliable. The pickup has a 3rd jump seat ok for little ones or once ina while travel. A used honda pilot is a good bet if you can get the maintenace records and things like timing belt etc are done. Asian cars are great but they usually take more maintenance. The vibe is pretty cool little car it's actually made by Toyota I think. Not much of a ford guy myself but they make a small one. do you need 4wd? most of the small "suv" type vehicles now a days have both 2wd and 4wd of course 2wd is better for mileage and if it's front wheel drive thats even better because the weight of the engine, transaxle and you are closer to the driving wheels for better traction and unless you live somewhere where the weather is really funky 4wd is really a waste of weight, fuel and breakable parts. I say if it's too bad out for front wheel drive...stay home. Check yahoo auto they have customer feedback on vehicles and maybe someplace like edmunds or consumer reports. Good Luck!! All vehicles now a days if you do the mainatenance they'll go a good 150,000 to 200,000 miles and yes american cars are getting better. They have to or they'll be run out of business.
