Common Problems Associated With Pool Motors And Pumps
In order to have a properly running hot tub or pool, its pump and motor must be in ideal working condition at all times. To properly maintain pool equipment, there is a level of maintenance that a hot tub or pool owner must up hold to. If your hot tub motor fails or starts to run poorly, the most practical and safest solution is to call and hire a certified pool consultant. Another thing to check is the pumps timer. Most home pool equipment is set to work on a timer - usually late at night when everyone in the household is asleep. If you're trying to test your pump and it's not starting, you may need to bypass the timer or reset it to work at the current time.
When the motor starts to make excessive noise during operation, there could be several problems occurring to the motor. A common problem with older motors is the centrifugal switch could have failed and will need to be replaced by a pool service company. The motor bearings could also be starting to wear in which case you'll need to replace them as soon as possible otherwise motor seizure could occur. If your pump motor is older, it could simply be getting to the age when it needs to be replaced altogether. The pump impeller has worn from use. If the water has any sand, grit, or cloudiness to it, then the fluid is much more abrasive than clean water, and it will wear out the impeller pretty fast. A worn impeller doesn't pump as hard, resulting is a lower flow rate and less mechanical load on the motor. With less mechanical energy needed to spin the pump, the motor requires less electrical energy input to it. The current will decrease to some extent as the mechanical load decreases.
