A Short Look At Lime T-shirt And Defense Types
A lime t-shirt may be the height of fashion, and most bright colored clothing might always be popular. However, these shirts can also be worn to protect life and property when worn in potentially dangerous conditions. There are three classifications of standards used to determine which is appropriate for the situation. Let's take a look at some of these requirements.
Class 1 group provides the least amount of visibility for the person wearing the garment, where the speed limit is 25MPH, or less, and the employee is required to pay full attention to traffic conditions. In these situations the surrounding background is uncomplicated. There are reflective requirements that involve having a minimum of 155 sq inches of reflective tape, or 6.46 linear feet of 2-inch tape or 9.39 linear feet of 1 3/8-inch tape on products such as safety vests.
This low visibility clothing is recommended for such workers as drivers of delivery trucks, people who retrieve shopping carts, and parking lot attendants. They are also worn by employees who are working on sidewalk or roadside repairs, and maintenance crews, and in warehouses where the worker is involved in controlling equipment traffic.
Class 2 garments have a little tighter requirements and are to be worn when the speed limits are over 25MPH, and where the surrounding area is more complex. These workers would typically be those who must pay at least some attention to other tasks beside watching for oncoming traffic. The reflectivity requirements are a minimum of 201 square inches of reflective tape, or 8.375 linear feet of 2-inch tape or 12.2 linear feet of 1 3/8-inch tape.
Work settings where Class 2 clothing is required can include less hazardous accident site investigations and EMT responders, law enforcement workers, and forestry management. Airport ground crews and baggage handlers, toll gate operators, parking lot attendants, and school crossing guards must wear these. Slow traffic involvement survey crews, railroad workers including equipment operators, and utility workers are also under Class 2 regulations.
Class 3 requirements provide the maximum level of visibility for workers in high risk areas where they are involved in many different tasks which require their undivided attention, and may be required to work in all types of weather conditions. When speed limits are over 50MPH, it is crucial that workers are as conspicuous as they can be. Its reflective requirements are a minimum of 155 square inches of reflective tape, or 6.46 linear feet of 2-inch tape or 9.39 linear feet of 1 3/8-inch tape.
The recommended situations for wearing Class 3 are for people engaged in such activities as EMT response, and accident site management and investigation. Flagging and survey crews, and utility workers may be involved in situations where speed limits are over 50MPH, and road construction or railway workers are also required to wear this classification, even when operating vehicles or other equipment.
