Door Cable

Overhead Door Repair - Note this write-up before you consider a technician
1. Replace Old Springs. Your overhead door's springs are absolutely the most important and most dangerous part of your door. Springs will wear out. When they break, injury or death can happen. If you have an obsolete garage door, have your springs inspected by a professional technician and replaced if needed. If your door has two springs, change both, even if one is not broken. This will not only prevent any damage caused by the breaking of the second spring, but also keep your door working effortlessly.
2. Inspect Your Cables. Visually inspect the cables that attach the spring system to the bottom brackets on both sides of the door. If these cables are frayed or worn, they are in risk of breaking, which can cause injury. Warning: These cables are under extreme high spring tension, these cables should be changed only by a qualified technician.
3. Noisy springs? Springs can squeak and be noisy. This is caused by routine use and does not necessarily signify a problem. Before calling a professional service technician, use a spray-on lubricant (recommended especially for garage doors). If the noise persists, call a professional garage door installer for service.
4. Safety Cables. If your door has extension springs, you need a safety cable that runs through the spring and secures to the wall or ceiling at each end. When all doors are down, extension and torsion springs are under extreme tension. If the spring breaks, it may cause injury or property damage. A safety cable can keep that broken extension spring contained. If you have extension springs but do not have the required safety cable, call your local dealer for a safety inspection.
5. Struggling Door? If your door does not go up and down smoothly, you may have an unsafe condition. Even older door systems need operate effortlessly. If the awkward operation continues when the door is manually operated, you may have a spring system that is out of balance. This can cause excessive wear and tear on other essential door components. Spring systems are very dangerous and should be repaired only by trained professionals.
6. Regular Service. Your overhead door is probably the greatest moving part in your home and is regularly used every day. Over time, parts can wear out and break, creating potential safety problems. Although you should require monthly safety checks and maintenance to your garage door system, an once a year visit from a trained door systems technician can keep your door operating safely and smoothly for a long time.
Installing or repairing a garage door can be very dangerous and is not recommended for a novice. We recommend that trained door technicians do the work for you. If you attempt any work by yourself, be sure to follow the manufacturer's installation instructions thoroughly.

I need to replace the flat extender on the coax cable from my sat dish thru my door. Where can I find one?
I have a DirecTV dual tuner receiver. Only one turner has been working for the last couple of weeks. I'm relatively sure that the problem is in the little piece that connects the outside cables and the inside cables. It's flat, white, and goes between the door and the door frame. I would like to find a replacement piece rather than call them to investigate/fix at a steep expense. What is it called and where may I find one?
Or could my problem be something different?
I went to RadioShack.com and my local store. No luck. I went to eBay and found what I need. It's now on its way.
You can find this item simply known as flat coax at your nearest Radio Shack or most other electronic stores. I know for certain that RCA makes this type of coupler as i used to sell them when i worked for Radio Shack.
