1996 dodge ram 3500 v10 with a utility bed. tail light problems?
i have a 1996 dodge ram 3500 v10 with a utility bed. the tail lights keep shorting out. the fuse does not blow. i have checked all the grounds i can find and no luck.. you can kick the bumper and the tail lights/brake/reverse will flicker. this only happens when the marker or headlights are on. when they are off everything is fine. is it the headlight switch? is there more grounds somewhere? this is a pain, i can't drive it at night..
You may very well have a "hot wire" grounding somewhere on the frame or in the utility bed itself.
Try to find the "hot wire or wires" from the engine compartment or fuse panel to the utility bed. If it only does it when the utility bed lights are on it almost has to be one of the hot wires grounding somewhere.
