The Peacemaker Season 1 Episode 4

The movie begins in an Eastern Orthodox church in Pale, Bosnia and Herzegovina, when an unidentified man (later revealed to be a Bosnian diplomat to the UN) is murdered in an alley after receiving a page to meet someone outside. The scene then immediately shifts to a missile base in Chelyabinsk, Russia, where SS-18 ICBM's are being decommissioned. Ten nuclear warheads are loaded onto a train and sent to a separate site for dismantling.

Even though the detonation was staged to look like an accident, White House nuclear expert Dr. Julia Kelly (Kidman) is not convinced: SS-18 warheads can only be detonated deliberately. She believes that terrorists are behind the incident. Her newly assigned military liaison disagrees with her. He is smooth-talking and irreverent US Army Special Forces officer Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Devoe (Clooney), and he is convinced that the crash and the detonation were both staged, to hide the hijacking of the other warheads on board. A call to Devoe's long time friend and Russian counterpart, Dmitri Vertekoff (Armin Mueller-Stahl), adds credence to his hypothesis.

Kelly and Devoe try to track down the terrorists through an Austrian trucking company which is a front for the Russian Mafia.

But then there will emerge a detail that brings home the harsh reality of the neighborhoods in which the show is set. At a time when the media seem to be focusing exclusively on the plight of the middle class, this series is a breath of cold air. For viewers with a high tolerance for speechifying, it has some value as a glimpse at a problem - inner-city violence - that has passed out of the general political conversation.

In the premiere, airing tonight at 10, Malik Spellman, a professional violence-prevention counselor who works on a volunteer basis with gangs, intervenes when a pregnant woman is shot and killed in his neighborhood. The woman was the girlfriend of a member of the local gang, the Playboy Gangster Crips, who suspect that she was shot by a member of the crew that runs an adjacent neighborhood, the Mansfield Gangster Crips. Spellman says that his mission is to prevent a cycle of retaliation.

During the operation, one of their choppers is shot down by Russian SAM battery when they enter Russian airspace, but the remaining choppers evade the missiles and are able to stop the truck carrying the warheads. A savage fight ensues onboard the vehicle, and the rogue Russian general is killed and the warheads are seized.

"I'm not taking a bullet," says a Playboy named Teflon. Spellman can sound like an overexcited preacher when talking to the gang members. At points, one almost expects them to say that he can lower his voice because they're sitting right next to them. Though Spellman seems to be making progress, the Playboys then learn that one of their own has been shot and is in the hospital. In a rare stroke of documentary luck, it turns out to be Teflon. Nonetheless, the Playboys agree to meet with the Mansfields. The dramatic event that transforms the meeting is almost too good to be true.

But often the gang members - "their participation is voluntary," an odd disclaimer reads -seem to be playing to the cameras rather than trying to communicate with one another. Their performances, along with Spellman's dramatics, make the entire show feel a little fishy.

Gavric is finally tracked down, wounded, and cornered into a Catholic church near the UN. Davoe confronts Gavric, saying, "It's not our war!" Gavric responds, "It is now!", and promptly commits suicide, knowing that the bomb is set to go off in a matter of minutes, and cannot be deactivated. With seconds to spare, Kelly is able to remove a part of the bomb's explosive lens shell of the bomb, preventing it from creating a critical mass within the plutonium core. The remaining explosives go off, but the bomb does not detonate and the explosion is confined to the church. Devoe and Kelly both survive the explosion with minor injuries.

The Peacemaker Season 1 Episode 4

Does anyone know the maximium rpm of a stock, 84' chevy 305 that came out of a 1/2 ton truck?

i am mildly building this engine to race. I bought a new cam with .488 lift and .234 duration with an rpm range of 3,000 - 6,000. I just want to make sure that the engine will hold up at 6 grand. i also am putting a pair of 2.02 heads off of a 350 on it, and a four barrel barry grant carb from holley, but i am not rebuilding the bottom end unless i have to, due to funds. I am putting this engine in a 82' escort GT drag car tubbed and roll-bared. It weighs around 2,900 lb. I am going to be running a powerglide with trans-brake with a coan 3,500 stahl converter. The rearend is a ford 9" with 4.56 gears (or 4.86), 31 spline axels, and a mini spool. the car has 33" tall by 15" wide slicks on it now. I am going to by the same size tire so i don't have to buy new wheels but i am going to get the hoosier D.O.T. quick time tires because they are the cheapest to buy in that size. Tell me what you think.

max SAFE rpm i would guess 4500-5000. with ARP rod bolts and a known good bottom end i turned my 350 7000, and my 400 will go 6-6200. sounds like a decent combo, but the small cubes and bore will be the limiting factor.
if you turn 6k consistently you may be smart to have a 2nd shortblock on hand....
